Bike rehab project progress...
All the parts are ordered and they’re taking a while to get here, but fortunately I don’t have any deadlines to worry about, so no problem. I was able to true up the rear wheel by just tightening a loose spoke. This is great because the drive train on this old bike isn’t made anymore and it is unclear what (if any) modern drive train would be compatible if I had to swap it to another wheel.
I got the chain guard and did a bunch of modifications to make it fit on the bike, modified some brackets, cut off some metal that would have been in the way, and shortened it. In the end it came out good and I think it’ll keep my pant leg out of the chain. Since this is going to be a hop on and ride bike, the less I need to remember to get going the better, like a leg strap for example…
After removing the tires and inner tubes I realized that the rim tape was pretty dead as well so I ordered some of that. Many of the remaining parts should arrive by the end of this week so hopefully I’ll have a usable bike by the start of next week.
